Volcanoes in Costa Rica

Costa Rica is a seismic country located on the infamous Pacific Rim of Fire. The nation is home to more than 100 volcanic formations, seven of which are active.

The last significant eruption in the country was that of the Arenal Volcano (previously deemed a mountain), in 1968. Today, the area around Arenal is a popular tourist hotspot, featuring thermal hot springs, luxury hotels and adventure tours.
